A long time ago I knew that I wasn’t wanted. No one cared enough to stay. No one considered me when making decisions. No one went out of their way to make sure I was okay. No tried to dry my tears. No one checked on me to see how I was dealing with everything. Everyone only cared about how their lives were changing, how their lives were affected. I was just a child, I was supposed to listen to everything I was told. Whether I was happy or not was irrelevant. I had to feel grateful. That gratitude is what kept me quiet, that sense of guilt that if I left I would be making things worse. That gratitude and guilt which was interpreted as acceptance. After all silence is acceptance right? It didn’t matter how hard the blows were, it didn’t matter if I had bruises which everyone could see, it didn’t matter how harsh the insults were or even how deep the betrayal cut. All that mattered was that I remember how much of pain and sacrifices the grown-ups made for me. How much pain my mother endured. How much money my father spent. That was all that mattered. I took every hand that was dealt. Eventually I was strong, not strong enough to fight back, but strong enough to finally leave. To go out and experience life no matter how hard it would be. To accept that I deserve happiness. I deserve love. And someday someone would be Worthy of Me.

What do you do when all you life its been drummed into you that you are not worthy???? What do you do when a mother would rather leave the world then be there to love her own child and be a mother to her, which i dont think i would be so easy to forgive my mother and let her be a part of my life especially after the verbal and physical abuse. The physical scars may heal, but the scars from being verbally scarred take longer to heal. She was stronger than she realized especially when she reached the point of enough is enough and made the choice to leave south africa. I think if she would have stayed that she would have lost herself completely and tried like her mom did and take herself out. She had already been burned by her family and then every guy she opened up and put her trust into burned her so eventually she became numb losing her virginity in the wrong way and holding the beautiful person that she is inside with the wall up blocking others out. I am glad that though the new life she made for herself had some ups and downs she found someone that was wrth opening up and being her true love and she found an extended family that made her feel like she was really part of their family even when things fell apart with the one she loved. I hated for this book to end but it was worth reading.Product details

A book that leaves the reader with a lot to think about... a book every young adult should read....! Well done!
Good story, but I think it's more for YA. Could be absolutly a true happening, long but sweet. I liked the style of writing. The story is written in the I form and well done.
This book had the potential to be 5 stars. I gave it three because it was short, the writing style seemed like a beginner, and there were some grammar errors. The plot was good, but it would have been great to see it developed into a full length book. Not bad for a new author. Would recommend the short read as it was enjoyable.
